Miss Étoile

A funny thing happened last friday. Doing the dishwashes (haven't got a machine yet;-) I was washing my all time favourite latte mug I bought in Barcelona and for the first time in almost two years I actually looked with some attention to the bottom of the mug. I never registered the brand before until friday and it said 'miss Étoile'. As I love the word 'étoile' (Melody Gardot even wrote a lovely song about the stars) I decided to start a mini investigation. Once a researcher, always a researcher;-) and I discoverd the most wonderful site. It appears to be a brand form Denmark and it has got selling points all over Europe. Scrolling through the Miss Étoile catalogue (see the pictures above)I became happier by the page! I really love the style and if there was a webshop I would have bought some items immediately. Curious about Miss Étoile? This is who she is ->

The Miss Étoile’s Universe

"Miss Étoile is a fictive person, created by Anne Lassen, who lives in a glamorous universe, surrounded by beauty and femininity in her boudoir home in Paris. She is the centre of every collection. Everything is designed to fit into her universe. Miss Étoile has everything a woman can dream of from home accessories to furniture and textiles. Her name, Étoile, means star in French and she loves all that shines and sparkles."
I can practically see Miss Étoile sitting on the chair underneath...

Oow, wish I could buy this amazing dress!

Couldn't find the price but perhaps that's better ;-)

Happy bike

After the theft of my bike this week (leaving the yoga studio, extremely zen, I discovered it had magically disappeared;-)I knew one thing: I had to get another one and soon! In Amsterdam a bike is a life necessity and it's also a good workout of course. I didn't want to buy an expensive one (you know, Amsterdam...) but I'm still a girl so the bike needed to have some kind of cute-factor. And I found it at the HEMA! My favourite shop ever. So happy! Am going to buy a basket for on front of the bike so it will look even cuter...

Silk playsuit ~ high budget

How cute! And way over my budget... but the nice thing is: I can get inspired by the look. And you can always check whether you can find low budget 'translations' of this silk playsuit. Maybe less silky but still extremely cute.

Things are gonna change ~ i am most happy

My mum gave me this lovely Dottie angel notebook last year. I'm a notebook collector XL and there's always a notebook in my bag! From a nice song I heard to funny thoughts, plans, creative ideas, etc. The strange thing is, I just realised I haven't really used the notebook the last couple of months. And that's a bit weird. In fact my mind has been extremely busy with a wide range of subjects. Creative things, huge decisions about the direction of my life, work, the way I want to grow as a person. I've decided to follow my heart and this means things are gonna change, big time. Exciting and scary at the same moment.
I guess it was quite impossible to share all these thoughts on paper, I would have needed at least five notebook and perhaps the decision would have been made on a more intellectual level. Reading the stuff I wrote, analyzing it and then the decision making process. Now it all happened inside of me. And it feels lovely. And now it is time to re-use dottie angel again, because 'I am most happy'.

I came across this lovely French brand, Neëst. I absolutely love the look and feel of the products. Simple and really tasteful. Would love to have an item of this brand.

Neëst

"A passion for decoration, especially for a recent trend called « Natural style of life » is at the heart of Neëst. This trend finds its inspiration in the new Japanese design which in turn was founded upon a strong Scandinavian influence. This « Natural style of life » is about enhancing everyday items by mixing vintage and contemporary objects."

Valentine Gauthier ~ Deep Forest

Last May I visited Le Marais and discovered the very cute boutique of Valentine Gauthier. Beautiful clothes: lovely materials and colours. Quite a coincidence that the designer herself was in the shop and she helped me with the combination. I bought a very cute shirt and H bought me a lovely skirt to match. Can't wait for spring to arrive in Amsterdam;-) In June I'm returning to Le Marais and will visit the boutique again. As a preview I checked the site and found some inspirational stuff.
Deep forest is the theme of Valentine's '12 spring collection. And it's exotic, full of adventure and also spiritually inspired. I absolutely love the colours of this collection.

The Herschel Supply Co.

"The story of Herschel begins in the early 1900’s, in Wick, Scotland. Peter Alexander Cormack, a barrel maker by trade, and his wife Annie packed the belongings of their small home in preparation for the long journey across the Atlantic to Canada. The government of the time was enticing families to immigrate through the homestead program. They gave these families land to farm, to support the growth of the country. The land that Peter and Annie were given saw them settle in the beautiful rolling hills outside of the town of Herschel, whose population today is counted at 30 residents.

Over a century after that move, Peter and Annie’s great grandchildren remain in the business of manufacturing. Instead of barrels, backpacks and bags are now created.

Herschel Supply Co. was started with the goal of bringing well-designed quality built product to market. Inspiration is drawn from vintage mountaineering, American heritage, world travel and fashion. Herschel reinvents these products with modern shapes, fits and feels, with fine regard for detail. Our product endeavors to compliment the consumer's passion for individuality and personal style in a new way. Herschel is about our past, present and future. We are creating an environment that supports the new generation of fashion forward individuals." http://www.herschelsupply.com/

I simply love these kind of stories and the colours of the bags are really wonderfull!

A new addiction?

This might be my new addiction. After a pair I bought in South Africa, I found this pair at the Woonfabriek in Amsterdam. I especially love the soft colour. Euro 2,95 per piece.
